Inclusion, Diversity, Equity & Accessibility
Dorset Theatre Festival is committed to being an anti-racist, anti-harassment, collaborative, open, respectful, and welcoming organization. It is our commitment that the Festival is not only responsible for producing and presenting impactful theater in Southern Vermont, but will perpetuate crucial values of equity, inclusion, diversity, sustainability, authenticity, and acceptance in our community.
We live in a country shaped by racist systems which perpetuate injustice against Black, Indigenous, People of Color (BIPOC) everyday. Especially because of the vastly white population of our home in Vermont, we have a great responsibility to name and dismantle racist systems, and to work for social justice. We have long thought of our theater as a kitchen table for the community - a place where people come to laugh together, celebrate together, and learn together. Now we must all come to the table for the purpose of doing the work necessary to create change within the Festival, our community, and the nation.
We welcome your help and your action. Below are some Vermont resources that you can use to start your own education.

INDIGENOUS LAND ACKNOWLEDGEMENT
It is with gratitude and humility that we acknowledge that we are learning, speaking and gathering on the ancestral homelands of the Mohican people, who are the indigenous peoples of this land. Despite tremendous hardship in being forced from here, today their community resides in Wisconsin and is known as the Stockbridge-Munsee Community. We pay honor and respect to their ancestors past and present as we commit to building a more inclusive and equitable space for all.
This year, Dorset Theatre Festival has made a donation to support the planning and development of the new Stockbridge-Munsee Cultural Center. If you can, we hope you will too. Learn more about the Stockbridge-Munsee Community, donate, or find other ways to take action in their resource guide.
AFFORDABLE WAYS FOR EVERYONE TO ENJOY!
We are committed to making our theatre a place accessible to everyone. We offer free and reduced-cost tickets all season long! Learn more about our Giving Back Program, Community Inclusion Partners, Ticket Lottery and more!
