The Festival’s summer home at the Dorset Playhouse is an intimate 298-seat theatre built from two pre-revolutionary barns. Since 1929, the Playhouse building has been owned and operated by Dorset’s non-professional community theatre group, The Dorset Players, Inc. The Players began hosting the professional Dorset Theatre Festival, (previously known as the Dorset Summer Theatre Festival) since 1976.
