- NATIONALLY RELEVANT
Now in its 47th year, Dorset Theatre Festival presents a professional Main Stage season at the historic Dorset Playhouse in Dorset, VT, highlighting both new plays and classic works. Enlightening, entertaining, and inspiring audiences since 1976, the Festival’s annual celebration of great plays runs June through September and features top theatre-makers from around the country. Increasingly known for high-quality world and regional premiere productions, in 2017 the Boston Globe dubbed the Festival, “Just north of the Berkshires, a new destination for playwrights.”

A MESSAGE FROM
ARTISTIC DIRECTOR WILL RUCKER
Dear Festival friends and supporters,
It was a joy to spend the 47th season with you this summer. We live and create art in a remarkable place, and sharing the work of world-class artists, technical professionals, and up-and-coming theater practitioners with 10,000 of you each summer continues to be an honor.
Martin McDonagh’s The Beauty Queen of Leenane - one of my favorite plays - delivered a spellbinding season opener that was so exquisitely executed. The self-abasing laughter coming from the Playhouse during Native Gardens was contagious. Kelly McAndrew’s tour-de-force performance as Lucille Ball’s famous punching bag in Sidekicked was jaw dropping. And the grand finale, True Art (another Dorset World Premiere) left audiences reeling.
Whether you saw all four plays or supported from afar, if you are as proud to be a part of the Dorset Theatre Festival as I am, please consider increasing your donation today.
