Take a curator-guided private tour of Aaron Copland’s beloved Lower Hudson Valley home, followed by a mini-concert for you and your guests in Copland’s own studio, performed by internationally-acclaimed artists from the celebrated Music from Copland House ensemble!

The iconic composer called his longtime home near New York City “my hideaway, my ear solitude,” and reveled in its “atmosphere of tranquility and seclusion.” A National Historic Landmark, the 1940s prairie-style home sits atop a rocky hill surrounded by three forested acres. An award-winning creative center for American music for the past 20 years, Copland House is spare, ruggedly elegant, and at one with the environment. Copland’s presence abounds, and the house and grounds reflect his values and personality. It is also a distinctive on-air location for media features on PBS-TV, CNN, NPR, the BBC, NHK-TV (Japan), the Danish Radio, and many others. During Copland’s 30 years there (1960-1990), it was a mecca of musical activity, and the base for his multifaceted international career as a composer, orchestra conductor, recording artist, author, and lecturer. At a mutually-agreeable date and time.

Special Note: Expires June 15, 2020.

Two tickets to the SOLD-OUT one-night-only concert at the Dorset Playhouse

“I’ve reached a point in my career of wanting unique experiences on tour, of not settling for the predictable routing and venues. Last July, Erik and I had a very pleasant experience touring the United Kingdom as an acoustic duo. This Summer, we’ve decided to do a tour of New England following the same format as last year, steering clear of big cities and playing unique and intimate venues in small, picturesque towns. We’re looking forward to seeing the rocky coast of Maine, the green rolling hills of Vermont, the historic village squares and white steepled churches of Massachusetts, New Hampshire and Connecticut. I imagine we will meet many locals and visitors seeking the same sort of experience that we are and I expect the audiences and the settings will inspire us.” — NATALIE MERCHANT
