Spotlight On… Women Artists Writing Group

Dorset Theatre Festival Supports Female Artistry And Onstage Equity

ABOUT THE WOMEN ARTISTS WRITING GROUP:

The Women Artists Writing Group, helmed by actors Heidi Arbruster and Mary Bacon, is comprised of a diverse group of mid-career female actresses and theatre artists who are expanding their artistry through writing. Now in its second year, the group’s purpose is to welcome female theatre artists at all writing levels and provide resources and support as they work to either discover their own voice or work towards completing a writing project.

LOCALLY ENGAGED. NATIONALLY RELEVANT.

When you support Dorset Theatre Festival, you enrich the work onstage, behind-the-scenes, and in the community.

ONSTAGE:

Dorset Theatre Festival brings the best of Off-Broadway to Vermont through world and regional premieres and fosters emerging voices through New Play Development Programs, including the annual New Play Reading Series, Women Artists Writing Group, and more.

BEHIND-THE-SCENES:

Through the Festival’s Apprentice Program, the next generation of theatre technicians, designers, and administrators learn side-by-side current professionals in an immersive professional setting.

IN THE COMMUNITY:

Dorset Theatre Festival is committed to making the arts accessible to all. Through community initiatives like the Giving Back program, reduced-rate tickets are offered to various community groups: from active and veteran military and families, to farmers, EMS workers, and more.

The Festival's Young Playwrights Program also facilitates playwriting residencies in local schools, working with young writers throughout the season to polish their pieces for the autumn’s Jean E. Miller Young Playwrights Competition.
